Sprucing up the studio.

This picture, taken by my talented sister, helps bring some warmth and color to the all too white walls of my studio.

Recently I found myself back in San Francisco for a few days,...

A beyond "aw cute" Badger. This guy just begs to be smooshed all to pieces!

It's official, Disney animation cells are fine art!

This is just joyful to me. I love the one-eyed octopus. It's the right combination of creepy and fun.

This print by Albrecht Durer is just, outrageously drawn, I'll have what he's having please.

Oh, we are in San Francisco.

Recently I found myself back in San Francisco for a few days, and took the opportunity to roust a certain Jenny Parks (illustrator extrodinaire, and crafter of Dr. Mew) to head over to the Legion of Honor.

The museum’s main show was Impressionists on the Water. And in a bout of unbearable cleverness, I started to sing “Impressionists on the waaater, and fire in the sky” to the tune of Deep Purple’s “Smoke On The Water.” While I was not surprised at the flat expression that was given to me when I bounced this off the ticket gal, I was truly surprised to hear that she hadn’t heard that one yet. C’mon… this is San Francisco, right?

Before we even got to the Impressionists show, which in a word was “Boat,” we saw this "Artful Animals" exhibit. And I felt that we’d found our people! Lots of cool drawings and paintings in gouache and illustrations by John James Audoban. It was fun!

So, the lesson is when in San Francisco, roust up your friends, see art, and have fun.
